The group Angels of Freedom are looking to launch their project in December, which will be similar to the Canal Street Angels in Manchester.
This group is aiming to provide a focused and safeguarded support network for #gayleeds (Lower Briggate) of the city.
They want to support young people who might be visiting the LGBT scene for the first time in order to discover the LGBT community, be able to provide information on social and support groups that are available in Leeds, be a point of contact for anyone in need of support during their night out and help to prevent risk for visitors to the area who may have become vulnerable for any reason.
In order to do this – they need you! They’re looking for a number of volunteers to enable them to operate this project, which will be covering a few hours on a Friday and potentially Saturday evening. This will be working in groups, walking around the area and speaking to people on their evening out.
Relevant checks on volunteers will be completed by the project.
If you’re interested in getting involved, please join them at the introductory event, where you’ll hear from Katie at The Street Angels about this specific project for #gayleeds (Lower Briggate).
The Angels will be working in partnership with West Yorkshire Police, The Street Angels Leeds, BACIL, British Transport Police, Leeds City Council and other agencies operating during the Leeds nighttime economy.
