UK Pride 2017

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, avoiding social media or don’t read or watch the news, you probably won’t know that Kingston upon Hull is UK City of Culture 2017.
The culture year is divided into four seasons and “Freedom” within the Hull 2017 programme includes Pride. The marking of the 50th anniversary since the partial decriminalisation of homosexuality is led for the nation in both Pride in Hull and plans for the week immediately following the parade and city centre based event. The Pride n Hull team working with Hull 2017 have some pretty awesome plans for a city which has also been granted the title of UK Pride 2017. The newly formed UK Pride Organisers Network, which is a peer support opportunity for any pride event organisers, will allow a pride event in the UK to become the focal pride in the United Kingdom for any given year. It’s very exciting to have that extra bit of attention and chance to welcome more visitors not just to the city but also to the most important event on Hull’s LGBT+ Calendar. 22nd July 2017 for Pride in Hull with the 50th Anniversary being the 27th.We are encouraged to watch out for Hull 2017 / Pride in Hull updates to find out more. www.prideinhull.co.uk &

It’s great for Yorkshire and even greater for Hull

Since coming out in 2002 I’ve seen a tremendous increase in the amount of support groups and provision for the LGBT+ community in Hull and I couldn’t be prouder to be involved. I encourage you to participate in our first UK Pride and join in the parade and party. It’s going to be an amazing, once in a lifetime, a rainbow-bedecked festival for a city on the up.

Watch out for #LGBT50
