Trans Mission’s sole aim is to make it easier for trans and gender variant people to get relevant information, advice and support.
Trans Mission was first set up as a “Coffee morning in the evening”. Since those humble beginnings, they have grown and expanded as a direct response to the needs of the community. They now support Trans* and Gender Variant people across West Yorkshire in a range of ways both practical and emotional.
Trans Mission run six Social and Support Groups, a food bank, a Swap-Shop and a Peer Support Mentor Program with 5 trained Peers Support Mentors (PSM’s) across Bradford, Leeds, Halifax, Saltaire and Bingley.
They also offer training for companies wanting to educate themselves and their staff about Trans and Gender variant people. Previous clients have included the Police, NHS, Universities and Colleges.
The group developed a series of workshops designed to promote positive mental health, and to tackle the internalised transphobia that many of us carry with them.
For more information go to the “WORKSHOPS” tab on their very own website!
If you need support please do contact Trans Mission on their website.
They promise to try and reply as soon as possible but please note that they are a very small team of volunteers so if you are in crisis need support urgently please contact the Samaritans on 116 123 (UK).
