O2 Academy (Leeds)

For live music and club nights, O2 Academy Leeds is the place to be.

Since opening in 2008, O2 Academy Leeds has become one of the key live music venues in the city. Its presence has attracted some of the biggest names in the music world to Leeds, becoming a popular stop off on tours.

Over the years the list of stars to have passed through the doors is impressive – Morrissey, Bloc Party, Ellie Goulding, Kasabian, The Last Shadow Puppets, The Pogues, Beady Eye, Jessie J, Slayer, Paolo Nutini, Florence and the Machine, The XX, Foals and The Maccabees just scratch the surface of what’s been a memorable near-decade.

It’s not just gigs, however. O2 Academy Leeds is also home to some of the busiest club nights in the city. Projekt is a particular favourite for students, and they have a range of intermittent nights spanning drum & bass, dubstep, reggae, trance and house throughout the year.
